WA: Crossings an issue in WA poll campaign
PERTH, Jan 12 AAP - School crossings figured in the West Australian election campaign
today, when the state's top cop said WA's police minister had ordered him to reinstate
a number of sacked crossing guards.
Police Commissioner Barry Matthews said Minister Kevin Prince had faxed him on Tuesday
night, the eve of the election announcement, directing him to re-employ 27 attendants
who were dismissed late last year.
The commissioner said it was the first time he had been ordered to do anything by a
minister, although he was not surprised by the directive …
