ECMC lists condition of crash victim as stable
FARMERSVILLE -- A Franklinville woman was listed in stablecondition Friday in Erie County Medical Center, following a two-vehicle crash on Route 16 near Route 98 in Farmersville.
Penny Williams, 65, was traveling south on Route 16 when shecrossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle head-onabout 4:15 p.m. Williams suffered multiple fractures and was takento ECMC by Mercy Flight, Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Peggy Davis, 58, of Machias, wasnot injured.
Charges were still pending the results of an investigation.

Student faces charges in thefts of merchandise
A University at Buffalo student from Pakistan in the UnitedStates on a student visa is facing felony charges for stealingmerchandise from local department stores and selling it over theInternet, state police said Friday.
Nazam Shahzad, 25, of Amherst was charged with grand larceny andfalsifying business records. He is accused of stealing more than$1,000 in merchandise from an Amherst department store from Oct. 10to 20.
Shahzad also was arrested Oct. 25 on similar charges for theftsfrom a Clarence department store, police said. He is accused ofstealing more than $3,000 in merchandise from the store and sellingit over the Internet, police added.

Lancaster police suspect tires, rims were stolen
Lancaster police have recovered 32 new truck tires and five steelrims that they suspect were stolen.
Now, they have to prove they were stolen.
Lancaster officers used a search warrant on Quincy Avenue in thevillage, where they recovered the tires and rims from a shed. Policealso arrested the resident, David J. Thomas, 33, on an unrelatedarrest warrant.
Detectives believe the tires and rims probably were stolen in thelast month, from underneath pickup trucks, perhaps in hotel parkinglots. The truck tires are in various sizes and makes.
"We're looking to identify this stuff as stolen, so furthercharges can be placed," said Capt. Timothy R. Murphy, chief ofdetectives.
