Vic: Vandals damage wind farm equipment

Expensive monitoring equipment has been vandalised at the proposed site of a contentious
Victorian wind farm.

The two 50 thousand dollar devices .. which have been monitoring the site at Bald Hills
in eastern Victoria since 2003 .. were damaged some time in the past week.

They were installed to assess the feasibility of Bald Hills for wind power generation.

Director of Wind Power .. ANDREW NEWBOLD .. whose company's behind the 220 million
dollar project .. says the attack is disappointing.

He says it appears wires holding the equipment in place have been cut .. but thinks
the damage can be repaired.

Mr NEWBOLD says police are investigating .. but he doesn't think locals who oppose
the project are behind the vandalism.
